 The  Sound of Freedom

The Sound of Freedom, what does that mean in the Real Estate market?  Well, in the Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Hampton & Newport News, Virginia cities it means to disclose the jet noise level for homes located in a locality where there is a Military Installation.  We measure the jet engine noise in decibel levels, and refer to a day-night average sound level.  The frequency of actual jet noise events may vary over time depending on the operational needs of the military.

A home owner in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Hampton or Newport News, Virginia, must initial and sign a disclosure form stating in which jet noise decibel level their home is located.  These jet noise levels – i.e. “Sound of Freedom” are:

0-65 Decibels  - Homes that are the farthest away from the flight path, maybe an occasional jet.

65-70 Decibels – Homes are a little closer to jet flight paths, with possibly a larger probability for a jet to fly overhead.

70-75 Decibels – Jets will be flying overhead these homes on their takeoff and landing paths. At times jets may be flying fairly low.

75+ Decibels – These homes are pretty much right next to the runways.

Residents of the Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Hampton & Newport News,  Virginia cities know that hearing the jet noise is The Sound of Freedom we love.
